Determine your version of Microsoft Windows

Working with a new computer or you are unsure of what version of Windows is installed on your PC, we can help you find out.

While Windows versions are all very similar to one another, different versions can affect how you perform certain actions, such as shutting down your computer or accessing Windows Control Panel.

Windows 11 OS

1. Click Start | Settings.
2. Click System | About.
3. Click Open about settings.
4. Under Device specifications | System type, see if you're running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.
5. Under Windows specifications, check which edition and version of Windows your device is running.

Windows 10 and older OS

1. Click Start | Run.
• If you do not see Run , click the Search programs and files or Search box.
2. Type winver and press Enter.
3. The About Windows window opens. Note the version of the Windows operating system installed on your computer, and then click OK.
