If you’re unable to install McAfee Internet Security Suite - Special edition from AOL, below are the solutions to resolve the issue. After trying the first solution, check whether you’re able to install McAfee. If it doesn't fix the problem, continue onto the next solution.

Solution #1: Check whether the computer meets the minimum system requirements for McAfee

Note: McAfee Internet Security Suite - Special edition from AOL is compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit operating system; however, it is not compatible with Windows XP 64-bit operating system.

Solution #2: Run McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT)

If you have trouble using the McAfee Internet Security Suite subscription software, you should try running McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT), which is an automatic issue-detection and repair tool. MVT is a McAfee online support process that resolves nearly 50 percent of McAfee product issues. You can download this small utility for free by visiting mvt.mcafee.com.

If MVT doesn’t resolve your issue, you will be presented with additional support options.

Solution #3: Check for third-party security software on your computer

McAfee Internet Security Suite cannot be used in conjunction with other safety and security products; therefore, you must first uninstall your existing security software, and then install McAfee Internet Security Suite. Solution #4: Disable proxy server

Disabling the proxy server can help resolve the issue. Refer to our online help article Disable proxy server to know how to do so.

Solution #5: Delete Temp Files

1. Click the Start menu and select Run.

2. Type %temp% and click OK.

3. Delete all temp files by clicking on the file and selecting Delete this folder.

Solution #6: Forgot password for my McAfee account

Do you have trouble installing McAfee Internet Security Suite because you forgot the password to your McAfee account? If so, please follow the steps mentioned below:

1) Go to http://home.mcafee.com/Default.aspx

2) Click Forgot your password link. The password will be sent to your email address that you have used to create your McAfee account.

3) Log in to your McAfee account with your Email Address and the new Password.

4) Click ACTIVE tab to download the software

Solution #7: McAfee is showing a blank screen while attempting to install / reinstall the software

You can use the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR) to remove data completely for a McAfee Security product installation on a supported Windows operating system. The tool can clean up data from 2005 - 2012 versions of McAfee Security home user products for Windows.
