IMPORTANT: You should use the steps in this article only if you've been using a third party email client with POP3 settings to receive and send your Verizon mail prior to migrating your account to AOL.

POP3 is a protocol or method used to access email on mobile devices. If you set up a third party email program or mobile device to access your Verizon email, then you most likely use POP3.

POP3 downloads your email messages from a server to a single computer or device, then deletes it from the server. This means that the only copy of those emails is located on the selected computer or device.

After you migrate your Verizon.net email to AOL Mail, follow the steps below to update your password settings.

Note: If you would like to use an email client with your AOL Mail account and you are not currently using an email client configured with POP3, please refer to our help article Verizon Move to AOL Mail: Setting up your new AOL account in a third party email program or mobile device (IMAP). This article provides instructions on how to set up your new AOL account in an email client using IMAP. IMAP is a newer protocol that leaves a copy of your emails on the mail server and allows your mail to be synced across multiple devices.

For instructions on how to use Alto for Mobile or the AOL app with your AOL Mail account, refer to our help article Verizon Move to AOL Mail: Using Alto for Mobile and the AOL App.
