Fix Issues Downloading McAfee

You may encounter issues downloading McAfee Internet Security Suite - Special edition from AOL if temporary internet files and cookies are damaged or if you already have another antivirus software installed on your computer.

Sign in and download McAfee from AOL Premium Subscriptions.

AOL Members that already have McAfee Internet Security have to sign in and download from AOL Premium Subscriptionswebpage.

Non-members or members on the Free AOL plan can download a free 30-day trial and then pay a monthly fee. Follow the instructions below to learn how.

1. Visit the McAfee Internet Security detail page.
2. Click Get Started.
3. Click TRY IT FREE.
4. Click Sign in with you AOL account.
5. Provide your payment information.
6. Review the Terms and Conditions and click COMPLETE PURCHASE.
7. The Order Confirmation screen will display, containing your Billing Confirmation and Order Summary.
8. Click Download Now to download McAfee Internet Security to your computer and begin the installation process.

Clear cookies, cache, history and footprints

Recover your McAfee account password

1. Go to the McAfee homepage.
2. Click Sign in.
3. Click Forgot password.
4. Enter the email address used to register for McAfee | click Continue.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to recover your password.

Download McAfee using a new browser window

Close all open browser windows and launch a new browser window. Go to AOL McAfee page and install McAfee Internet Security Suite - Special edition from AOL. For detailed instructions check our help article on how to install the McAfee software.

Download the McAfee software from the McAfee website

1. Go to your AOL inbox to see your Order Confirmation email.
2. Click on the Get Started Now button in the email to start downloading the McAfee software.
3. Use the email address and temporary password provided in the email to log in to
4. Under the Device Protection tab, click Download.
5. After reading the McAfee Consumer Products End User License Agreement, click I Agree.
6. Click Download and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
7. Click Run.
8. When the download is complete, click Run.
9. Select Complete (Recommended), and then click Next.
10. The software will now gather download information. This may take some time depending on the speed of your internet connection.
11. Please wait until McAfee scans your computer.
12. Once the scan is complete, it will continue with the installation.
13. Click Next.
14. Please wait until the optimizing, protection and firewall settings are complete.
15. Click Finish.
